Position: Feeds and Feeding Technical Assistant

Feedlot Health Management Services Ltd. (FHMS) is interested in hiring an individual that is detailed–orientated with excellent computer, data manipulation, data analysis, and data summary skills to provide support in delivery of feeds and feeding/nutritional consulting services to feedlot clients 

FHMS provides comprehensive animal health, feedlot production, feeds and feeding, and individual animal management consulting services to commercial feedlots throughout Canada and the USA. In addition, FHMS provides its feedlot clients with a proprietary individual animal data collection system and maintains an active applied feedlot research & development program. The FHMS Veterinary and Production Consultant Team is currently comprised of 16 professionals with advanced training/recognized expertise in feedlot animal health and welfare, animal production, epidemiology, meat science, nutrition, pathology, applied research, statistical analysis, and economic modeling. The professional consultants work together with a 25-30 member support team to provide value-based services to FHMS client feedlots. The Feeds and Feeding (FF) Technical Assistant’s primary responsibility is to support the initiatives of the Feeds and Feeding (FF) Team as described in the Responsibilities and Duties section below. In addition, the FF Technical Assistant cooperates with/works alongside other members of the FHMS Team to meet the goals and objectives of the company. 

Responsibilities and Duties 
- Technical/data support for the initiatives of the FF Team Leader and FF Consultants - Cooperate with/work alongside other members of the FF Team to accomplish the necessary activities associated with the FF service module 
- Technical/data support for clients in regards to FF protocols: formulating diets, FF protocol changes, site visits, presentations to clients, performing literature reviews, and getting answers to client specific questions 
- Data activities: collect, access, collate, verify, summarize, analyze, and interpret FF data in conjunction with FF Team Leader and Consultants (in conjunction with the Research Team - this may include large pen datasets that relate to FF). 
- Provide direction for FF Summer Students and FF Field Assistants 
- Develop and implement FF procedures, documents, and reports in conjunction with the FF Team Leader and Consultants 

Requirements: 
- Bachelor of Science Degree 
- Basic understanding of feedlot production and/or nutrition 
- Previous experience with data summary and analysis 
- Excellent computer skills and exceptional proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel and Access 
- Ability to work individually and in a team environment 
- Ability and willingness to work outside occasionally 

FHMS provides training and is committed to ongoing employee development. In addition, FHMS provides a full benefit package. Hours of work are generally 8:30am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday; but flexibility is required to meet daily workload and project specific requirements. This is a full-time position.
