Assistant Trader - Established Global Market Leader

Viterra is New Zealand’s largest and most diverse livestock nutrition manufacturer, for the poultry, pig, equine, sheep, cattle and dairy markets. Viterra also operates in maize drying, storage and grain merchandising. Reporting to NZ Merchandising Manager and working closely with a team of Traders, your role is to provide assistance with various facets of commodity trading to enhance efficiency and maximise margins. You will be responsible for (but not limited to): - Development of logistic plans to ensure efficiency and timeliness of shipments
- Providing analytical support in developing and maintaining supply /demand and supply chain cost models
- Managing commodity and trading risk
- Contract management
- Monitoring and managing stock levels
To succeed in this busy and demanding role you will have: - Proven experience in commodity trading
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience working effectively and calmly under pressure of deadlines and changing priorities
- Strong business acumen
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication
- Technically competent with Microsoft Office
